GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Today, Lee Hawkins for Congress announced that its third quarter financial disclosure statement reflects more than $300,000 in net receipts comprised of contributions from nearly 300 donors and a personal financial commitment from Senator Hawkins.

“Having launched my campaign for Congress less than three months ago, I am energized by the overwhelming support I have received from conservatives,” stated Senator Dr. Lee Hawkins. “With more than $280,000 cash on hand, our campaign is on schedule to raise every dollar necessary to guarantee our message reaches voters across the district.”

Senator Lee Hawkins, who announced his intention to run for Congress in the middle of the third financial quarter, raised more than any other candidate did during their first full quarterleading his disclosure to reflect net receipts exceeding the financial disclosure statements filed by his opponents in July. Compared to his opponents’ second quarter financial disclosure statements, Senator Lee Hawkins had 150 more individual contributors than any of his opponents, placing him at more than 285 contributors. In addition, the average donation to Hawkins’ campaign was just over $500, compared to the top three opponents who had average donations well over $1,000.

“I am running to be a voice for conservatives,” stated Hawkins. “Our campaign’s high number of donors reflects my desire to run a campaign focused on listening to everyday, hard working AmericansAmericans that are not writing large checks but are giving what they can, when they can,” Hawkins continued. “Now, more than ever, families are faced with decisions about how to budget their money,” stated Hawkins. “I believe it is important for me to make a personal commitment to my own campaign before asking others to invest in it.” Hawkins has made a personal commitment to north Georgia and to his campaign by providing the additional money necessary to ensure the campaign’s conservative message reaches voters. “It’s time for Washington to remember they are temporary employees elected to represent the people and to listen to the people,” stated Hawkins. “My campaign is focused on doing just thatlistening, taking action and achieving results.”

Hawkins’ personal commitment is equipping voters with the tools necessary to more easily allow them to engage in a dialogue with Senator Hawkins, such as the campaign’s new Web site http://www.LeeisListening.com.

Hawkins’ third quarter statement, after subtracting his personal financial commitment, exceeds his opponents’ initial financial statements filed at the end of the second quarter.
