Help with health care for providers and patients…
My wife and I are both independent pharmacists in Hall County, and we are each partners in ownership of two different pharmacies. So we are deeply concerned about what is happening today both in health care and to our business. Over the last fifteen years or so, I have been actively involved in Georgia and National politics on behalf of Independent Pharmacy. I don’t know how many politicians I have met with to discuss health care issues on behalf of my profession and my patients. I do know this though, Lee Hawkins stands out as someone who knows health care, understands the issues of access and costs, and knows that the system has to be fixed, and fixed soon, or this State and this Country are going to face even greater challenges in health-care delivery.
I have spent a lot of time working with Lee on Georgia Senate legislation to regulate those who control much of the allocation of health services in Georgia. When we first began to meet several years ago, I was impressed that before signing on to the legislation we were supporting, Lee investigated the issue from both sides. When he came back and said he was on board, he didn’t just sign his name, he went to work. He put two years into passing much needed legislation, and was recently rewarded when the Governor signed the bill Senator Hawkins introduced, into law. Lee’s diligence and conviction paid off, and the citizens of Georgia will now have a further degree of protection from unfair restriction of access to needed drugs and services. This is the kind of person we need in Washington working on our behalf. Health care services are needed by almost everyone sooner or later, and we want to be able to provide the best possible service to our citizens. It will take dedicated public servants like Lee Hawkins to fix the new national health care legislation, and come up with a workable program that really saves money.
Lee Hawkins is a health expert, but he has taken a strong interest in areas like the future of our water supply here in North Georgia. He is working with utility providers to be sure Georgia continues to have safe, clean power for decades to come, and he realizes the importance of job growth to our future. A lot of candidates may promote their involvement, but Lee Hawkins can show you the results of his efforts.
